The proprietary process used in the production of the coated aluminum is called UltraBond. This
system allows for the piping and fitting surface to be chemically stripped so the adhesion of
the PVC coating is as strong as possible. A controlled zinc coating is also applied to give
the product superior protection from corrosion. It is so strong in fact that during testing
the coating will actually tear away rather than separate from the conduit. This gives
Perma-Cote an even greater advantage in the market. Once a PVC coated product's
surface or interior coating has been damaged and the metal is exposed, corrosion can begin
immediately. If this were to happen with a conduit or fitting coated with the UltraBond
application the customer would just have to use the repair mixture that comes with the
materials. Proper application will permanently seal any cuts or abrasions made by tools
or moving mechanical parts.
